My favorites were Deptford pinks, which are not the most common of the wildflowers in the field (Queen Anne's Lace is probably the most common), but I loved how tiny and vivid the flowers are. I didn't know their name back then. As a small child, "daisy" was generic flower in my mind, and the fanciest thing I could think of was France, so I called them French daisies.
